Nelson emailed with a crazy proposition the other day: he would have a layover in Vancouver, B.C. on Friday night. Was it too far to come visit him there? Turns out it's really not that far, and we were inclined to have an adventure, so off we went. It was a gorgeous day for driving!

Just across the border we got caught in some traffic but really didn't mind it, as the views were spectacular.

This photo must be enlarged to be appreciated. Two great blue herons are flying in front of a tree, in which sits a bald eagle. Wow!

Not too hard to see why the Olympics were held here, eh?
Well, we got to the airport in plenty of time, and had a really good time hanging out with Nelson. I took Blew It (known as Farkle to some) and Jumping Monkeys, and we hung out in the observation deck talking and playing games. Of course I completely forgot my camera! Eventually Nelson had to head back through security and we hit the road again. In bed at 2:30 in the morning--all around, a very nice little road trip. Nice to see you, Nelson!
