Lummi Island

JT and I stole a day to go to Lummi Island. It turned out to be a bit of a drive, up to Bellingham and then out to the ferry. Worth it all though!

These are the views left and right on an empty beach we found. So peaceful.


And this was the view from the deck where we ate lunch, at the Willows Inn. For awhile we watched a tug pushing a barge across this space. Then he "honked his horn" (I don't know what you call that for boats!) and we realized a sailboat was about to cross its path. The sailboat tacked hard and sailed up the side of the barge; from our viewpoint it looked like a very near miss.

This is the ferry we rode across; it's about a 6 minute ride. On the way back we were the first car on, and this was our view:
