First we drove out toward Mt. Rainier, to Crystal Mountain.

Then we took the gondola to the top, at 6872 feet. If you look hard, you can see the lift line disappearing at the top of the ridge.

Once over the ridge, we headed to the summit.

We traveled over 2500 feet upward in just under 10 minutes.

You can see the entire Cascade Range from up there!

This is the Summit House, Washington's highest restaurant.

Steak & Ravioli ~
Painted Hills all natural New York strip loin marinated and seared with butternut squash ravioli, topped with pine nuts and a balsamic reduction.

Summit Burger ~
All natural Painted Hills half pound burger grilled and topped with pickles, smoked Gouda, tomato-bacon jam, and house made cranberry bourbon barbecue sauce, served on a toasted bun.

Summit Pasta ~
Smoked Northwest Salmon, scallions, sundried tomatoes, garlic, white wine, and butter all tossed in penne and topped with Parmesan and fresh herbs.

After lunch we enjoyed the mountain peaks. My camera couldn't really record at that distance, but just at the far left shoulder of Rainier is the ghost of Mt. St. Helens.

17 years!
