at the beach

the first day was sunny but cool and windy, providing gorgeous views and exciting kite surfers:

the next morning was cloudy and still
The cloud cover made it much warmer, so the kids went out to skimboard.

Parker, Leah, and Shelby, who all took to it quickly.

Wednesday morning dawned wet but warm, so we headed to Cannon Beach for Funcycles.

Matt relaxing in front of Haystack Rock--he loved these, calling them deck chairs on wheels.

Shelby thinks hard before trying hers....

 Parker is ready

You steer Funcycles with your body, tilting the seat.  Krissy nearly fell out before she could start.

 Colesy is ready now too

and Krissy gives the signal--they're off!

Looking rather like sand crabs scuttling down the beach, the cyclers head past Haystack Rock for a beach ride of several miles.

Dad and I found a bakery in which to wait.

Mom gave the cycle a go, too.

Miles of beach riding made hungry people, and we were told this was the best pizza at the coast.  Hand-tossed and delicious!
