Here are Captain Merriwether Lewis and his dog. He was the first leader of the fort which is now an immense military base. We intended to go the the Army Museum but never got there. To get on the base you have to first go the Visitors Center to get a pass, showing ID and car registration. Well, that waiting area was just like waiting at the DMV--it was clearly going to take us about an hour so we nixed that plan. We did get to see the original gate to the fort though, which was beautifully constructed.
