an evening at the lighthouse

We sat down against this log.  A little later, some shipwake washed ashore and splashed us mightily--we jumped up, grabbing camera, clothing, etc, but we all got pretty wet.

the king of the world.....actually, they came in to shore to pick up someone, and this guy was telling the pilot his depth.

this is just quintessential Northwest--take your dog fishing in a kayak

Part of the park was getting organized for the salmon bake this weekend.  The salmon is baked on cedar spits over fire pits of green alder wood.  Another quintessential NW experience.

"The Browns Point Salmon Bake began in the early 1900's when Puyallup Native American Jerry Meeker hosted traditional-style clam and salmon bakes on the beach at the end of summer, just as he had with his tribal family prior to settlement of Browns Point by Europeans. It is the longest continually running salmon bake in the state, which started in 1946, and happens every other August."
