Tree Hunting

Mt. Ranier looms large in our landscape, but today we drove much closer.

When we got to the forest service road we discovered a traffic jam; somewhere up ahead a car had gone in a ditch, and the road was blocked while someone pulled them out. So we went back to a turnout and made a snow camp for lunch.

loaded potato soup was warm and tasty

By the time we finished lunch and cocoa there were trucks heading downhill with trees, so we continued our adventure up the mountain.

the views as we drove higher were so gorgeous!

goofing around in the snow (also known as resting)

Parker-dorker can't seem to stop himself from eating snow. We did tell him to avoid the yellow snow...

The snow wasn't so deep, maybe a foot, but there were pockets underneath around plants you couldn't see, so we kept falling in to the thigh. When JT was lugging the tree downslope and stepped in a hole, he got knocked all the way down. (Did I help him up? No, I got out the camera!)
