Parker's birthday

 After a dinner of homemade macaroni and cheese, Parker opened a gift from his grandparents:

 mints and gum, the way to a boy's heart!

 Followed by a gift from Mom and Dad--

 OH MY GOODNESS!!!

 and then the  phone rang; Uncle Nathan and Aunt Jill sang Happy Birthday!

back to the gift:  a Bear Grylls pocket knife.
